UTStarcom Unveils New Family of GSM Handsets For Latin America and Caribbean Carriers (Booth#1106)

UTStarcom Personal Communications, a division of UTStarcom, Inc.
(Nasdaq: UTSI), great new GSM phones come in groups of three at CTIA Wireless
2008, where the wireless device manufacturer and distributor is introducing
two trios of new handsets for the Latin American and Caribbean markets. The
bar-style models offer sophisticated styling with superior performance at
attractive price points, making them popular product offerings for carriers in
Central and South America and the Caribbean. The new UTStarcom GSM handsets
are on display at CTIA Wireless 2008 (April 1 - 3 in Las Vegas) in booth
#1106.

Thin and Colorful -- the GSM1218/GSM1219

The GSM1218 dual band (850/1900 MHz) and GSM1219 dual band (900/1800 MHz)
phones weigh only 2.3 ounces and measure barely larger than a business card at
3.8'(H) x 1.7'(W) x 0.6'(D). These lightweight handsets have a vibrant 1.5'
65k color screen and offer reliable voice and text communications. The
GSM1218 and GSM1219 feature SMS with T9 predictive text, auto redial, call
waiting and call forwarding features, two embedded games, store up to 300
contacts and offer up to 390 minutes of talk time and 560 hours of standby
time. The GSM1218 will be available to Latin American Carriers, the GSM1219
to Caribbean carriers and they come in four color choices -- black, blue,
orange and red.

GFM1218/GFM1219 -- Music to Your Ears

The GFM1218 and GFM1219 take all the great features of their siblings, the
GSM1218/GSM1219, and add a built-in FM radio receiver. Boasting identical
overall measurements and capabilities, the GFM1218 and GFM1219 let consumers
stay connected to each other and to all the music, news, sports and
information found on FM radio stations.

GSM78/GSM79 -- Cool Entry-Level Camera Phone

The entry-level GSM78 (dual band 850/1900 MHz) and GSM79 (dual band
900/1800 MHz) handsets feature built-in digital cameras that are sure to bring
smiles to carriers and consumers alike. These bar-style GSM camera phones
feature a VGA camera, 1.5' 65k color screen, voice and text capabilities,
multi-party calling, one-button dialing, call hold and other advanced
features. To ease transfer of photos to a computer, the phones come with a USB
cable. Additionally, the GSM78 and GSM79 offer up to 240 minutes of talk time
and 500 hours of standby time. These wireless devices weigh only 2.5 ounces
and measure 4.1'(H) x 1.8'(W) x 0.5'(D).
