UTStarcom Appoints Ari Bose New Vice President and Chief Information Officer

ALAMEDA, Calif., March 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- UTStarcom, Inc.

and services, today announced that it has appointed Ari Bose to the position
of Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Bose will be responsible for
managing the company's worldwide IT organization, building its organizational
capability and standardizing processes to help ensure that the Company's
systems infrastructure keeps pace with its growing reach and sophistication.

Bose joined UTStarcom from 3Com, where he was vice president and chief
information officer with global responsibility for the company's IT
organization. At 3Com he developed a global information strategy and re-
engineered business processes and systems, resulting in $51 million in annual
operating cost savings. During Bose's tenure, Information Week selected 3Com
as having the top High Technology IT organization for 2005. Previously, Bose
was director of strategy, architecture, and advanced development at Nortel
Networks and director of information systems at Claris. He also held
management and technical positions at Quantum; Pacific Telesis Group; Systems
Consultants Pte, Ltd., of Singapore; and Engineers India Limited. Bose holds
a BS from Delhi University in India and an MS in software engineering from
National University, San Diego.
