UTStarcom Introduces Advanced Wireless Spectrum (AWS) Product Line at CTIA Wireless 2008 (Booth #1106)

Always at the forefront of wireless technology, UTStarcom Personal
Communications, a division of UTStarcom Inc. (Nasdaq: UTSI), today introduced
its ground-breaking line of products that support Advanced Wireless Spectrum
Services (AWS). The line includes the CDM7126, a compact, clamshell-style
wireless device targeted to the entry-level market sector and the first
UTStarcom AWS handset available to consumers; the CDM7176 Bluetooth(R)-enabled
camera phone with flash; and the lightweight, versatile UM100 wireless USB
modem.

All products in the new line, which operate on the tri-band, CDMA 800/1900
and AWS bands, are on display at UTStarcom Personal Communications' booth
#1106 at CTIA Wireless 2008, April 1-3 in

AWS is a wireless telecommunications band that uses microwave frequencies
in two segments from 1710 MHz to 1755 MHz and from 2110 MHz to 2155 MHz. AWS
allows wireless providers additional bandwidth to offer their customers faster
and more reliable network coverage including video, data and messaging
services for their mobile devices.
Following are brief descriptions of each new UTStarcom AWS device:
CDM7126
The CDM7126 is designed for those who simply want a compact, reliable
voice and text phone; it measures only 3.6' (h) x 1.9' (w) x 0.7' (d). The
attractively priced, yet highly functional clamshell-style handset is
Bluetooth(R)- and BREW-enabled to download games and applications and can
store up to 500 phonebook entries. Equipped with a 1.8' 65K color CSTN
(128 x 160) main display screen, the CDM7126 has a built-in speakerphone,
72 chord polyphonic ringtones, text messaging capability and is E911
supported.
CDM7176
The Bluetooth(R)-enabled CDM7176 camera phone with flash is loaded with
many cool features including SMS/MMS for sending picture and video as well as
enhanced message service for sending sound and emoticons. Easy-to-use and
dependable, the clamshell-style CDM7176 also features a bright 1.8' 262K color
TFT (128 x 160) main display screen and a 65K color CSTN sub-display screen.
With 64MB Flash/64MB RAM, the CDM7176 can store up to 500 phonebook entries.
The stylish CDM7176 has dimensions of 3.5' (h) x 1.8' (w) x 0.7' (d).
UM100
The UM100 wireless USB modem is one of the first CDMA 800/1900/AWS, Rev A
modems in
business card and weighs barely more than one ounce; but this tiny device
delivers big time, with fast, reliable access to the Internet and corporate
networks. Compact and lightweight, it is the perfect traveling companion. The
new UM100 is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista operating
systems. The device features LED indicators to visually monitor power, signal
strength and connections; it supports SMS text messaging to facilitate
multi-tasking; and it measures only 2.9' (h) x 1.4' (w) x 0.6' (d).
